Dual study program

Business informatics combines economics and computer science.

“Data is the new oil” – true to this motto, students of Business Informatics-Data Science are prepared for the special technological and business challenges of the digital economy.
The course imparts in-depth technical, business and methodological knowledge so that graduates can successfully shape digitalization.
You will be qualified after graduation,

• support the data-centric view of companies,
• generate information from large volumes of data in order to derive recommendations for action for companies,
• as well as using artificial intelligence methods and processes to solve operational issues.

Prospective students should have the following prerequisites for studying Business Informatics-Data Science:

• Very good performance in mathematics
• Strong basic technical and analytical skills
• Previous knowledge in the subject “Computer Science” (e.g. programming knowledge)
• the willingness to familiarize yourself with other specialist contexts

Business IT specialists need equally Computer science skills and business management expertise.
Both subject areas are covered in detail during the course and supplemented by specific topics from the field of data science:

Computer science

• Modern IT technologies and algorithms for the development of software systems (e.g. Java, Python, web technologies)
• current methods of computer science (e.g. object-oriented modelling, data visualization, IT project management)
• Fundamentals of information technology (e.g. basic concepts, operating systems, communication systems)
• Artificial intelligence and big data

Business administration

• Technical terminology and central concepts of business administration in order to successfully develop business information systems
• Business management methods to ensure that project specifications regarding costs, time and quality are met in project management
